About Citizens for Better Transit
Citizens for Better Transit is composed of regular citizens who want to improve the public transportation system in the St. Louis Region. While we support buses, we strongly disagree with light rail alternatives because they are prohibitively expensive, take too long to develop and deploy, and are inappropriately managed.
We are extremely critical of Metro because they have betrayed the trust of the tax payers. Metro has repeatedly shown itself to be dishonest and unwilling to be held to account. Metro has misspent funds (cost overruns for the Shrewsbury Metrolink Line were to the tune of $250 million). Our question here is, when Metro KNEW the project was going over budget ($400 million), who gave them permission to continue spending on “credit?” Metro’s repeated plan of attack is, “give us your money and we’ll be sure to do the right thing. Nothing to see, here.” Metro isn’t held responsible to the voters, and has little interest in what voters want. Special interests, on the other hand…
